My guess (as a bunch of us were discussing after the panel) is that Morgana is not actually going to be taken as far towards the dark side as it's being made out she will be. Katie DID say that the most fundamentally changed relationship next series will be between Morgana and Merlin, and that the innocence of that relationship has been completely lost (which sounds actually pretty interesting to me, if they're actually going to explore it).
