I freaking adore her. Have you seen her vid on Palin's supporters?
Where do you stand on Sarah Palin, by the way? I am of the opinion thatshe's not fit to lace Hillary Rodham Clinton's boots and the media who keep calling her a "feminist" have a screw loose, but maybe that's just me. :P
Oh, I've been trying to construct a post on all the many, MANY things that ake me angry about that woman and the position she's been put in - but it always just turns into a great big DAMN THE MYSOGINISTIC BASTARDS rant. What I ay do is break down what is irking me most (the 'Look ladies! A WOMAN! NOW YOU'LL VOTE FOR ME!' obviousness; the book banning fiasco; the idea of her pro-life stance being confirmed by her having a downs syndrome baby... because, you know, us pro-choicer's are evil selfish baby eaters who would NEVER consider giving birth to a downs syndrome baby... her TOTAL heartlessness over the exploitation of HER OWN DAUGHTER; the fact that Fox News has agically discovered sexism; etc etc), post by post.
But it may take a while. There's a lot of how angrily about in there.
I also love how the McCain campaign are all ZOMG RESPECT BRISTOL'S PRIVACY when John McCain was telling jokes about how "ugly" Chelsea Clinton was when Chelsea was just fourteen or fifteen which is awkward enough for a girl. Plus, the reporters asking about Bristol's pregnancy have a point - Palin is very pro absinence-only sex education which DOESN'T WORK as her daughter have now proved.
I'm not sure whether I'm proud that Obama is staying classy and not slinging mud or panicking because the Dems need to call the Republicans out on their lying and hypocrisy and all the other crap they're pulling. I know Barbara Boxer's being doing a lot of that, but I seriously want Pelosi to take Palin on, Nancy Pelosi would CRUSH her.
YES! I want Pelosi to rip Palin a new one two! I'm glad Obama himself is staying out of the mud slinging, but the Dems do now need to form a cohesive response to this. Either a very classy speach addressing sex education, birth control and women's right to choose from Obama (subtly but not directly attacking all the things that Palin stands for) or an all out slugging match from soeone like Pelosi.
If Obama or Biden does it then the GOP will just pull out the sexism card and the big bad boys bullying poor sweet Sarah crap - it's the Democratic women who need to take Palin on. Pelosi, Hillary, Barbara Boxer, Debbie Wasserman Schultz who said emphatically on CNN - "I know Hillary Clinton and she is NO Hillary Clinton."
AND, my latest girlcrush, the beautiful Campbell Browm, totally annihilating a McCain spokesman on the issue of Palin's lack of experience and refusing to let him put her off with softballs.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjXyqcx-mYY Have you seen this? It's what I watch whenever I get depressed about.... well, anything, but especially when I worry about what's going to happen to the world if McCain is put in charge of America. (Seriously, his stance on war gives me visions of the apocalypse; or, at the very least, a third world war).
I love Kate Walsh even more now if possible. I knew she was a liberal because she supports the Feminist Majority and does fundraising for real sex education and stopping the spread of STDS, but I love it when celebrities I love get really INVOLVED politically. I loved it when Natalie Portman really came out fighting for Kerry in 04 and I love KW for rooting for Obama now.
When I get worried about McCain, I watch all the videos from this years DNC, with the energy and the focus on women and I get excited because of Obama's pro-choice record and Biden's work on the Violence Against Women Act and how seriously they're taking women's rights and gay rights and how much genuine change they can bring to women around the world.
